Comments: “We didn’t take the boats… the sea took the motors, it destroyed them”: fishermen from Puerto Escondido, devastated after hurricane #Erick Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca – Amidst the wet sand and the remains left by the sea, fisherman Margarito Osorio, from the main beach of Puerto Escondido, walks among the little that is left: destroyed boats, motors flooded with salt water and a deep feeling of helplessness. “We didn't get the boats up, we didn't get the motor up... the boats broke, the sea swept them away,” Margarito said sadly, as he and his companions surveyed the damage after Hurricane Erick, which slammed into the Oaxacan coast during the night. According to the fishermen, the sea level rose suddenly. No one thought it would rise so far. The waves broke the usual coastline, sweeping away work tools and any hope of going out to fish in the coming days. https://x.com/Red_es_Oaxaca/status/1935747131035541869
